2020 Negotiations
The Fédération du personnel de soutien scolaire (FPSS-CSQ) met with its members from the Mauricie region to discuss the 2020 negotiations.
Frustration is unanimous
“School support staff members and delegates from the Mauricie are unanimous. They deplore the government offers,” says FPSS-CSQ President Éric Pronovost. “I would go even further and say that the employer offers are an insult!”
Broken promises
While the first meeting between government and FPSS-CSQ representatives will only take place this Thursday, promises made by Prime Minister François Legault which were subsequently broken by the President of Treasury Board were at the heart of the discussions.
“Today, members from the Mauricie spoke about how disappointed they were. The Prime Minister himself had pledged to value government employees and offer them minimal protection against inflation, while making education a priority. This is far from what’s happening!” says Pronovost.
WE are also education!
“Imagine what life would be like for students and their parents if there were no school secretaries, special educators, daycare educators, janitors or even bus drivers. School support staff are an integral part of the education system and the government needs to acknowledge this by providing us with better working conditions, full-time jobs, decent wages and solutions to alleviate the current manpower shortage,” according to Éric Pronovost.
