The Treasury Board is delaying the renewal of premiums for certain specialized worker job classes, despite the September 30 deadline. The primary goal of these premiums is to narrow the gap with the private sector and keep our jobs attractive. The Treasury Board has just renewed them until October 15.
Competitive salaries help to combat the labor shortage. Not renewing the premiums only makes the problem worse.
The job classes covered by the premiums are: regular and principal class Electricians, Specialized Shop Mechanic, ,Mechanic, class I and II, Stationary Engineer, Pipe Fitter, Carpenter, Certified Maintenance Workman, painter and Heavy Vehicle Driver
The Treasury Board must renew the premiums. This is urgent!
