8 April 2020
The Easter statutory holidays of April 10 and 13 will be paid differently from other days. Here are the details we received from the MÉES:
“Support staff collective agreements stipulate that employees benefit from 13 paid holidays, with no loss of salary, during each school year. However, some local provisions provide for more. Consequently, for any hours worked during a paid statutory holiday on the Easter weekend (Friday the 10th and Monday the 13th of April), the employee shall be paid according to the following terms: at their usual hourly rate increased by half (150%) and this, in addition to the regular salary they would have received for this paid holiday. In some cases, overtime may be taken in time rather than paid.”
To know if you are entitled to this higher rate, don’t hesitate to contact your local union.
