Distance education for adult general education and vocational training

15 April 2020

Directives have just been issued to partners in the school sector.  They relate to adult general education and vocational training.  Here are the elements that most affect school support staff.

Vocational training technicians, school organization technicians, special education technicians, social work technicians, student supervisors, secretaries and other staff members of these centers may be called upon to contribute.

Technical support staff will be involved in supervising and supporting students, as well as other colleagues in their center. Especially special needs students.  These needs can be met with telephone calls and video messaging.

General adult education

Adults who were already attending a program can continue their learning, but it will be done remotely.  They have until April 27 to indicate that they accept this option.

Ministry examinations are postponed.  Course evaluations will be carried out locally.

Vocational training

There will also be distance vocational training, but it will be more difficult.  It will be theoretical training only.  The practical aspects can be carried out when establishments become accessible to clients.

Graduation

For both vocational training and general adult education, ministry examinations and assessments will take place when the centers are able to accommodate the students.  There will be a review period before the tests to help students prepare.  The concern is to maintain the value of diplomas.
